| eXtreme... It's extreme because you'll be pushed to achieve in a way that'll probably result in some profuse sweating. You will definitely have a much more refined understanding of what can be done by a small group of puppeteers with a talented and motivated leader. In just over two hours, our small band of XP3'ers will learn and prepare to present a complete puppet show including complex choreography, props, and anything else we can throw at them. Then, at the climax of every School of Puppetry Workshop and FESTIVAL!, the group will present that show to all the other attendees. FESTIVAL ATTENDEES ONLY: This year you'll perform TWICE! On Friday night you'll get about an hour and a half to rehearse a brief but entertaining show and then perform it. Saturday, you'll start over on a totally different and more complicated show with only a little over two hours to rehearse it!
"...the performance part was an adrenaline rush." --Attendee, May
25th, 2005
Oh sure, there may be a few techniques that involve some other area of creative ministry, but this'll be pretty much pure puppetry. XP3'ers will be put through their paces and stretched far beyond what the average puppeteer ever imagines. And through it all, the concept of TEAM will be reinforced. Each member of the team will be important to the whole production and only cooperation will result in a puppet show everyone can be proud of. "I was amazed at how much we learned!" -Attendee, May 9th, 2005 "...a great learning opportunity!" --Attendee, May 25th, 2005
It's an 3xperience because everyone will be an active participant during three regular class sessions at any Workshop or FESTIVAL! While the other attendees are rotating from class to class every 40 minutes, the XP3 team will be focusing on their specialized training. From the moment the XP3 track begins, XP3'ers will not just see what it's like to work like a pro; they'll eXperience it. It's a hands-on, full-contact kind of event that you'll never forget and that you can't get anywhere else. You may have had good puppetry training before, but nothing of this caliber and intensity. For the most fun you've ever had at a puppetry seminar, workshop, conference or festival, plan to be one of the few who accept the XP3 challenge. "...it was great to put those skills to the test." --Attendee, May 25th, 2005 "...super fun!" --Attendee, April 29th, 2005 "I learned how much I could actually accomplish (in a puppet show.)" --Attendee, April 5th, 2005 |

D-tales XP3 is a separate track at every 2006 School of Puppetry Workshop and FESTIVAL! XP3'ers will attend the opening festivities with everyone else, but when the specialized class sessions begin (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday at Workshops; Fridays and Saturdays at FESTIVAL!), the XP3 team will be taken to a separate room in which they will work throughout the remainder of the event. Space is eXtremely limited and only a very small number of attendees (a maximum of 12) will be able to participate. Because of this, XP3 enrollment will be strictly on a first-come, first-served basis and, preliminarily, must be restricted to only three people from any one group. Others will be put on a waiting list (again on a first-come, first-served basis) and given the opportunity to participate if space becomes available. The cost to participate in XP3 is just $10 per person for weekday workshops and $12 per person on weekend FESTIVAL! (this is in addition to your registration fee for the Workshop or FESTIVAL!.) Besides the very special, personalized attention from one of our experienced, well-trained, professional puppeteers that is the core component of each XP3, every participant will receive an eXclusive XP3 embroidered patch unavailable to the general public. The XP3 enrollment fee is required to guaranty your place and must be included with payment of your preregistration. (You can save $3.00 off the regular Workshop or FESTIVAL! preregistration rate by registering online.) If your registration and enrollment fee should arrive after enrollment for XP3 in your area is closed, your enrollment fee will be returned to you either by check or credited back to your credit card. Accepted enrollment fees are non-refundable, but are transferable. That means if you are officially enrolled and can't attend, you can designate who gets to have your place. Enrollment fees for stand-by participants will be collected when and if a place becomes available.
